ENGLISH LADYThis carving is from Bass Wood and started out to be a Mexican with a big hat. Luckily the mishap happened early in the carving. Yup, I broke off a big piece of the hat. One good thing about wood is that there is always more things in it, you just have to look. Low and behold - a stylized
Victorian Lady. As this carving seemed to be incorporating a lot of ideas I thought "Why not try a different finish". This is the first and only piece I've carved to date that has a dark finish. Not only is it dark but it is a "spray on stain" that I tried for the first time. Size: 6-1/2" high x 3" square APRIL, 2001 |
